This four-day course will provide participants with the opportunity to learn and practice the art of replacing a shingle timber roof. During the workshop you will learn key elements of removing and replacing a shingle timber roof and the associated elements in the practice. Participants will learn how it is done and experience working on a heritage building using traditional tools and methods.
This workshop will be delivered by Graham Green. Graham learned the tradition of shingle splitting and traditional roofing 26 years ago from bushman John Graham. He has since undertaken restoration work on heritage listed buildings across the state. Graham has also built a number of rustic huts and cabins utilising hand split timbers and has a passion for Tasmanian mountain huts. Graham is now based in Oatlands where he has contributed to 10 shingle roofing jobs over the years. These buildings are quite distinctive and may be seen by taking a walk around the village.
This course is eligible for 6 CPD points for builders.
